The training course is part of the ‘Preserving and Promoting the Value of the Art of Hue-Singing (Ca Hue) through 2030’ project, which identifies the introduction of Hue-Singing into schools as a key mission to safeguard and promote Hue's cultural heritage.
Comprising 10 sessions, or 50 instructional hours, the program provides teachers with a comprehensive introduction to Hue-Singing, along with practical training in the melodies of Hue folk songs and the classical repertoire of Hue-Singing. Participants will also have the opportunity to engage in an exchange session with artists from the Hue-Singing Chamber Music Club.
Hue-Singing is a distinctive musical art form that blends royal court music with folk music, embodying the unique cultural Hue identity. For more than three centuries, it has been preserved and passed down through generations, becoming an integral part of the cultural life of the people of Hue.
In 2015, Hue-Singing was inscribed on the National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The recognition not only honors the art form’s cultural significance but also underscores the responsibility of government agencies and society as a whole to preserve and promote this valuable heritage.
According to the leaders of Hue City Department of Culture and Sports, the training program aims to develop a network of teachers capable of bringing Hue-Singing closer to students through school education. The initiative seeks to help students not only become familiar with Hue-Singing but also understand, appreciate, and take pride in their hometown's cultural heritage, thereby fostering a deeper love for Vietnam's traditional culture and strengthening the younger generation's awareness of preserving and promoting the nation's cultural legacy.
