The torch-lighting ceremony kicks-start the 2026 “I Love My Fatherland” Journey in Hue City

Attending the event were Mr. Nguyen Kim Quy, Member of the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and Permanent Vice President of the Central Committee of Vietnam Youth Federation; Mr. Nguyen Chi Tai, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hue City; Mr. Hoang Khanh Hung, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee and Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission of Hue City Party Committee; and Mr. Nguyen Van Manh, Member of the City Party Committee and Vice Chairman of Hue City People's Committee.

The “I Love My Fatherland” Journey is a key activity of Vietnam Youth Federation in celebration of the National Congress of Delegates of Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and in anticipation of the 70th anniversary of the traditional day of Vietnam Youth Federation (October 15th, 1956 - October 15th, 2026). Hue City is one of seven destinations included in this year’s journey.

The journey helps put the “I Love My Fatherland” movement into practice by educating young people about patriotic traditions, nurturing revolutionary ideals, inspiring aspirations for contribution, perseverance, and responsibility, while promoting the pioneering and creative role of youth in socio-economic development, safeguarding national sovereignty, preserving cultural identity, and building the nation. Stage 2 of the journey brought together more than 2.000 outstanding youth members and young people representing the youth of Hue City.

As part of the program, the Central Committee of Vietnam Youth Federation presented 12 maps of Vietnam and national flags to 12 mainland border and island communes in the city. In addition, the program mobilized more than 700 million VND to implement youth projects, youth-led initiatives, and social welfare activities. Prior to the launch ceremony, participants in the “I Love My Fatherland” Journey offered incense and flowers at the Memorial House and Museum of General Nguyen Chi Thanh and visited and presented gifts to Vietnamese Heroic Mother Nguyen Thi Khiet.

The highlight of the program was a large-scale Semaphore flag signaling performance combined with artistic formations by more than 2,000 youth members set to the song “I Love My Fatherland”. The performance created a striking spectacle at Ngo Mon Square. Amid the red colors of the national flag and the Federation flag, the youth of Hue formed symbols celebrating the 70th anniversary of Vietnam Youth Federation’s traditional day, expressing national pride, solidarity, and the aspiration of Vietnam’s younger generation to contribute to the nation in the new era.

Immediately after the launch ceremony, delegates and youth participants joined a variety of accompanying activities, including Hue cultural experience booths, the Hue Youth Fest, and visits to encourage and support young people with disabilities and disadvantaged youth at Hue Hope Vocational Training Center.

Concluding the program, the torch of the 2026 “I Love My Fatherland” Journey was handed over to the youth of Tuyen Quang Province, the host of Stage 3 of the journey. The torch-handover ceremony symbolized the continuation of ideals, responsibility, and the aspiration for contribution among Vietnamese youth, helping to spread the spirit of patriotism, solidarity, and community service throughout the country.
