A variety of exciting activities

Following a sailing performance on Lang Co Bay, residents and visitors immersed themselves in a series of activities organized under the “Lang Co – World Beautiful Bay 2026” program. More than ten notable events were held from June 5 – 7, with the main focus on the opening day (June 6), offering new experiences for visitors to the region.

At Nguyen Van Walking Street, along the shore of An Cu Lagoon (Lap An Lagoon) – the venue for the opening ceremony – street music performances, folk dances, cultural exhibitions, and street food activities created a festive atmosphere. These events helped connect locals and tourists through cultural, artistic, and coastal experiences. Many visitors also came to newly inaugurated check-in spots to capture memorable moments. “I came to Lang Co for vacation and learned about this event. I watched the sailing performance in the morning, and tonight I’m walking around to enjoy the food stalls and artistic performances. Lang Co should have more activities like this,” shared Nguyen Thi My Linh, a tourist from Da Nang.

According to the organizing committee, alongside several flagship activities in the “Lang Co – World Beautiful Bay 2026” program, this year, Chan May – Lang Co Commune invested heavily in producing the opening art program titled “Echoes of the Highlands and the Sea.” Inspired by the world-renowned bay where majestic mountains meet the poetic blue sea, the artistic performance was divided into three chapters: the spirit of the highlands, dance of the blue bay, integration and brilliance. These three chapters of three colours represented a journey from mountains to sea, from tradition to modernity, and from local identity to aspirations for global recognition, celebrating the beauty of Lang Co Bay - often described as the green jewel of Central Vietnam.

Mr. Dinh Ngoc Hung, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Chan May – Lang Co Commune said that: “The wide range of activities of the “Lang Co – World Beautiful Bay 2026” program was designed to create opportunities for cultural exchange while showcasing the area’s natural beauty. Among the highlights was an art camp and photo exhibition themed “Memories and the present,” which offered an artistic perspective on Lang Co’s transformation from a traditional community into a modern destination.”

Complementing the cultural events was a series of community sports activities, including a pickleball tournament, a women’s football tournament on artificial turf, a community run and the “Chan May – Lang Co World Beautiful Bay” golf tournament. These events not only promoted health and recreation but also strengthened community ties and enhanced the area’s tourism appeal.

The festival atmosphere was further enriched by artistic kite-flying displays, floating lantern releases on An Cu Lagoon, street performances, and culinary activities, giving visitors more opportunities to experience local culture firsthand.

Creating momentum for development

According to Chan May – Lang Co Commune leaders, Lang Co is a region blessed with natural beauty, where blue seas, white sands, mountains, and tranquil lagoons blend harmoniously. Beyond its stunning landscapes, the area is rich in historical traditions, cultural heritage, and community values preserved across generations.

For centuries, Lang Co has served as an important link along Vietnam’s north-south transportation corridor and as a gateway connecting Hue and Da Nang. Together with the development of the Chan May – Lang Co Economic Zone and the East–West Economic Corridor, the area is increasingly establishing itself as a key tourism and service hub in Central Vietnam.

A significant milestone came in May 2009, when Lang Co Bay became the 30th member of the World’s Most Beautiful Bays Club. This recognition remains a source of pride for local residents and a motivation for authorities and communities to preserve and promote the natural treasures bestowed upon the region.

Following administrative restructuring and the implementation of a two-tier local government model, Chan May – Lang Co Commune is entering a new stage of development filled with opportunities and expectations. Chairman Dinh Ngoc Hung emphasized that the title “World Beautiful Bay” is not only an honor but also a responsibility, requiring continued efforts to protect the environment, preserve natural landscapes, safeguard traditional cultural values, and build Lang Co into a green, friendly, safe, and attractive destination.

The beautiful Lang Co Bay needs to be promoted more widely

Under the city’s development plan through 2030, with a vision to 2050, the Chan May – Lang Co area is envisioned as a center for the marine economy, services and logistics, a base for green industry, an international-class tourism destination, and strategic connection point linking Hue, Da Nang, Central Vietnam, and the East - West Economic Corridor.

The locality is currently improving infrastructure, promoting socio-economic development, and strengthening connectivity to attract investors. These efforts aim to unlock the area’s tourism, service, and other economic potential, creating new growth momentum for both the locality and the city.

Through the participation of businesses, residents, and tourists in the “Lang Co – World Beautiful Bay 2026” program, Chan May – Lang Co hopes to leave a lasting positive impression, elevate Lang Co’s profile on both national and international tourism maps, and foster green, sustainable socio-economic development.
