“Staying Close and Listening to the People for Effective Operation” is the title of an article by Minh Hien based on a conversation with Mrs. Hoang Thi Nhu Thanh, Deputy Secretary of the Ward Party Committee and Chairwoman of the People’s Committee of An Cuu Ward, about the notable changes after An Cuu implemented the two-tier local government model.

Drawing from practical experience at the grassroots level, Mrs. Hoang Thi Nhu Thanh shared: “Ward officials today are fully aware that serving the people is their primary duty, so everyone is making efforts and adjusting themselves to do better. Fortunately, up to now, the service attitude of officials in An Cuu Ward has generally improved. The targets set by the ward have all been achieved, even exceeded, reflecting consensus throughout the entire system. If I put myself in the position of a resident coming to the ward office to handle administrative procedures, especially land-related documents or complaints about existing shortcomings, I think what people need most is clarity and efficiency. Anyone coming to work with government agencies hopes their issues will be resolved promptly if their documents are complete…”

“Finding a Unique Path for Highland Tourism” reflects Huu Phuc’s concerns about tourism development in the western mountainous areas of Hue, where the majestic Truong Son mountain range stretches across the region.

“The culture and rhythm of life in the highlands hold great attraction, not only because of differences in customs, cuisine, and lifestyles, but also because each ethnic minority community preserves its own stories of the mountains and forests, with identities passed down through generations. As Hue City shapes a more concrete tourism development strategy, the question is no longer ‘what is there to develop for tourism’ but rather ‘how the highlands can find their own path that is distinctive enough and compelling enough to retain visitors,’ Huu Phuc wrote in the article.

In this issue’s Culture & Arts section, Hue Today Weekly introduces Pham Phuoc Chau’s article “So That Tuong Is Not Just a Memory”. Within the familiar environment of schools, tuong art - a traditional theatrical form once considered “difficult” for young people to connect with -  is gradually becoming more vivid through experiential activities. By directly participating in makeup sessions, learning about, and experiencing the values of tuong in classroom activities, this approach helps young people connect more closely with the heritage and opens a new direction for bringing traditional culture into schools.

“As one of today’s talented tuong artists, Meritorious Artist La Thanh Hung and performers from Hue Royal Traditional Arts Theatre directly interacted with students. With years of experience, the artists not only introduced makeup techniques but also ‘decoded’ the meanings hidden behind each line and color. Stories about the profession and their journeys with tuong were shared in an approachable way, helping students understand that behind every layer of makeup lies profound cultural depth”, the author wrote.
