| The libraries and bookcases, once put into use, are expected to foster reading habits among students |
Accordingly, the Zhi Shan Foundation supported Dang Van Ngu Secondary School in building a friendly library; at the same time, it assisted An Dong Kindergarten in establishing a toy library, creating a learning and reading space suitable for preschool children.
On this occasion, the organization also donated 96 classroom bookcases to several schools, including: An Dong Kindergarten, An Tay Kindergarten, Huyen Tran Primary School (An Cuu Ward); Phu Binh Primary School, To Huu Secondary School, Nguyen Binh Khiem Secondary School (Phu Xuan Ward); and Lam Ty Ni Kindergarten (Vy Da Ward).
The total funding for the program amounted to 447 million VND, of which the Zhi Shan Foundation contributed 343 million VND, while the schools provided 104 VND million in counterpart funding.
Mr. Hoang Trong Thuy, Chief Representative of the Zhi Shan Foundation in Vietnam, stated that in the context of rapid digital development, maintaining reading habits is particularly important for students. Reading helps develop thinking and cognitive abilities, while also limiting the overuse of electronic devices. He also expressed the hope that schools would effectively utilize the bookcases and create more opportunities for students to access books.
