Vice Chairman Tran Huu Thuy Giang delivering concluding remarks at the meeting

According to the Organizing Committee, the VnExpress Marathon Hue 2026 is scheduled to take place from April 17th to 19th, 2026, with the official race day on April 19th. The event is expected to attract around 11.000 runners, competing in distances of 5km, 10km, 21km, and the Kun Marathon. Notably, the Kun Marathon, a free race for children aged 6 to 10, will have 2.000 participants and will be held prior to the main race day (from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on April 18th, 2026).

To ensure the successful organization of the event, the organizing unit proposed that the City People’s Committee assign relevant departments, agencies, and units to coordinate and provide support. Key areas of focus include developing plans to ensure security and safety; organizing traffic flow and regulation in race areas and other necessary situations; implementing medical and emergency response plans; coordinating with the organizers to handle health-related incidents; considering the arrangement of booths to showcase local cuisine; and mobilizing youth union members and students to participate as volunteers supporting the event.

In his directive remarks, Vice Chairman Tran Huu Thuy Giang emphasized that this is not the first time the VnExpress Marathon is held in Hue. The city views the event not only as an opportunity to promote sports participation and improve public health, but also as a means to boost tourism and promote Hue’s destinations and scenic landscapes through the marathon.

Mr. Giang requested that relevant departments and agencies, based on their functions and responsibilities, closely coordinate with the organizers and ensure thorough preparation of necessary conditions for the event’s success. Particular attention should be given to organizing and mobilizing volunteers effectively, ensuring medical readiness and emergency response capability, maintaining environmental sanitation, ensuring public order and security, and implementing appropriate traffic regulation and road closure plans to minimize disruption to residents’ daily activities.

In addition, he stressed that communication efforts for the event should be implemented early. He also urged the police, the Department of Tourism, and local authorities to strengthen oversight and ensure a safe, friendly, and attractive tourism environment, leaving a positive impression on runners and their families visiting Hue for the marathon.
