| Mr. Tran Huu Thuy Giang, Member of the City Party Committee and Vice Chairman of Hue City People’s Committee, presents certificates of merit from Hue City People’s Committee to collectives with outstanding achievements in the voluntary blood donation movement in 2025 |
Attending the conference was Mr. Tran Huu Thuy Giang, Member of the City Party Committee and Vice Chairwoman of the Hue City People's Committee.
In 2025, the city’s Voluntary Blood Donation Mobilization Steering Committee, in coordination with the Blood Transfusion and Hematology Center - Hue Central Hospital, directed units to organize 155 voluntary blood donation events (an increase of 24 events compared to 2024). These activities collected 30,116 units of blood, including 5,042 donors who voluntarily came to donate at the center, achieving 97% of the target assigned by the Hue City People’s Committee for 2025. The total value of the activities exceeded 6,3 billion VND. This result is considered highly encouraging, contributing significantly to ensuring a safe and timely blood supply for emergency care and treatment at medical facilities across the province and the region.
Across the city, there are currently 27 blood donation clubs, including four reserve blood donation clubs (living blood banks), one rare blood group Rh- club, five family blood donation clubs, and 17 blood donation advocacy clubs. Several units organized particularly effective blood donation programs in 2025. For example, the Red Sunday campaign organized by Hue University collected 405 units of blood; Huong Thuy Town collected 465 units; the Spring Blood Festival in Quang Dien District collected 570 units in a single day. In response to National Voluntary Blood Donation Day (April 7), the entire city collected 2.406 units of blood, while activities within the Red Journey 2025 campaign received 2.417 units.
Despite these achievements, voluntary blood donation efforts still face several challenges. In some localities, mobilization activities have not yet been deeply effective; the proportion of 350 ml blood donations remains low; and participation from workers in local enterprises is still limited.
Speaking at the conference, Vice Chairwoman Tran Huu Thuy Giang commended the steering committees at all levels and volunteers for spreading a strong humanitarian spirit. At the same time, she candidly pointed out existing limitations, particularly the low proportion of 350 ml donations and limited participation from the business sector. He also outlined key tasks for promoting the voluntary blood donation movement in the coming period, including strengthening leadership and direction from Party committees and local authorities, incorporating blood donation targets into emulation programs, diversifying communication methods, expanding mobilization among workers in industrial parks, and maintaining the effective operation of living blood bank clubs and platelet donation groups.
On this occasion, six groups, 27 families and 83 individuals received certificates of merit from Hue City People's Committee in recognition of their outstanding achievements in the voluntary blood donation movement in 2025.
