Referees carrying out their duties after each round of competition

The tournament brings together nearly 100 athletes from 13 units across the city, including the communes and wards of Thuan Hoa, Phu Xuan, Phong Dien, Thanh Thuy, Hoa Chau, Thuy Xuan, Kim Long, Huong Thuy, Phong Phu, Kim Tra, Duong No, Dan Dien and Quang Dien.

Over two days (March 7th - 8th), athletes compete for six sets of medals in two events, men’s singles and men’s doubles, across three age categories: under 35, from 36 to 50, and over 50 years old.

According to Mr. Tran Thanh Tuan - Director of Hue City Sports Center, petanque is one of the sports contested at the national sports festival and has also appeared at the Southeast Asian Games on several occasions. It is a simple and accessible sport, suitable for participants of many age groups. By organizing and maintaining this annual tournament, the city’s sports sector hopes to attract more athletes and gradually improve both the scale and quality of the petanque movement in Hue.

With this event, the 10th Hue City Sports Festival has now organized competitions in 12 sports, including traditional boat racing, karate, taekwondo, shuttlecock kicking, volleyball, badminton, table tennis, vovinam, chess, Chinese chess, billiards and petanque.
