Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Khac Toan, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, and Chairman of Hue City People’s Committee, emphasized the particularly important role of intellectuals, scholars, and artists in the process of building and developing Hue City.
According to Chairman Nguyen Khac Toan, 2025 took place amid many fluctuations in the world and the region, with severe impacts from natural disasters; nevertheless, Hue still maintained macroeconomic stability, ensured major balances, and sustained a positive growth momentum. Key development pillars such as tourism and services, specialized healthcare, education and training, culture and heritage, and smart urban development continued to be strengthened, contributing to shaping a civilized, modern urban image rich in the identity of the former capital. Social welfare was ensured, national defence and security were maintained, and people’s living standards continued to improve.
Mr. Toan confirmed that these overall achievements include the important, persistent, and dedicated contributions of more than 1.750 intellectuals, scholars, artists, educators, medical doctors, artisans, religious dignitaries, coaches, athletes, along with many outstanding collectives and individuals. City leaders highly appreciated and acknowledged these valuable contributions, considering them an important resource for promoting the comprehensive development of Hue.

In the field of education and training, the city continued to affirm its position as a land of learning, with many outstanding results in both comprehensive education and high-quality education. The rate of high school graduation and national prize winners remained high, with many students participating in international Olympic teams. Hue University made a clear mark on international rankings, while expanding training in high-tech fields such as artificial intelligence, data science, and microchips.
The healthcare sector continued to be a bright spot, as the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University, and Hue Central Hospital mastered many advanced medical techniques and successfully performed thousands of organ transplants, contributing to enhancing the position of Hue and Vietnamese medicine on the regional and global map. Along with this, science and technology, digital transformation, and innovative startups achieved many positive results, placing Hue among the leading localities nationwide in innovation and digital transformation indices. High-performance sports continued to win many medals domestically and internationally, spreading a positive image of the determination and aspiration of the people of Hue.
In the field of culture and the arts, artists and artisans not only preserved and revived traditional art forms such as classical opera, tuong, and royal court music, but also created many new works, contributing to building the image of Hue people as elegant, compassionate, and civilized. Religious dignitaries consistently accompanied the authorities, encouraging followers to live “good lives and beautiful faith”, contributing to strengthening the great national unity bloc and maintaining political stability and social order and safety.

Looking toward 2026 and the following years, Chairman Nguyen Khac Toan noted that Hue faces many new requirements, with challenges intertwined with major opportunities. The city needs to strongly promote a “spirit of action”, strengthen great unity, and take the “creative Hue people, facilitative Hue government” motto as a core pillar throughout the development process.
At the meeting, representing the intellectual community, Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tien, Deputy Head of the Internal Medicine Department, University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University, emphasized fundamental changes in Hue’s development model toward a heritage - ecological - smart - creative city. He also confirmed the responsibility of the intellectual community, especially young intellectuals, in linking scientific research with practical development, serving the community, and contributing to the city’s sustainable development.
On the occasion of the Spring of the Year of the Horse 2026, Hue city leaders extended their wishes for good health, happiness, and success to intellectuals, scholars, and artists and their families, expressing confidence that with its long-standing cultural tradition, existing potential and advantages, and the unity and joint efforts of the whole society, Hue will successfully accomplish the development goals that have been set.
