The festival is an important event within the Spring Festival Program - Hue Festival 2026. It is held to express gratitude, remembrance, and tribute to Princess Huyen Tran, a historical figure who made significant contributions to the expansion of the nation’s territory and to the formation of Vietnamese homeland.
The ceremonial segment of the festival is conducted solemnly, featuring traditional rites and Buddhist rituals such as Hung Tac ritual, Bach Phat Khai Kinh ritual for national peace and prosperity, Tien Thuong rite, and Cung thi rite - the offering and lantern-lighting ceremony praying for peace and well-being for the nation. The most significant event of the festival is the Death Anniversary Ceremony of Princess Huyen Tran, held on the morning of the 9th day of the first lunar month, including various rituals such as incense offerings, ceremonial music, and a solemn opening program rich in cultural identity.
The festival activities will take place in a vibrant atmosphere, featuring a wide range of traditional cultural, artistic, and sporting events. These include ceremonial drum performances; music and dance shows; Hue-Singing and Hue folk songs; traditional instrumental ensembles; bai choi performances; demonstrations of traditional martial arts; calligraphy displays; exhibitions and live demonstrations of the traditional craft of conical hat weaving; fine art exhibitions; displays of artworks from ao dai painting contest; brocade fashion shows; Hue tea spaces; and various folk cultural experiences designed for visitors.
According to the organizing committee, Huyen Tran Temple Festival for Binh Ngo Spring 2026 is organized in accordance with the principles of solemnity, safety, thrift, and effectiveness, while promoting internal strengths and encouraging the participation of relevant agencies, organizations, artisans, and the community. At the same time, the festival must strictly comply with legal regulations concerning festival organization, public order and security, fire prevention and control, and environmental sanitation.
