Bao Vinh blacksmithing craft to be showcased at the “Hoa Chau Tet Festival” 2026

Accordingly, festival activities will be concentrated along Bao Vinh Road, from Bao Vinh Bridge to Dia Linh Culvert, with peak events taking place on February 7 and 8, 2026 (the 20th - 21st days of the Lunar December). A key highlight of the event is the “Traditional Tet Space of Hoa Chau”, which recreates traditional Tet celebrations associated with the urban memories of Bao Vinh - Hoa Chau through spring-themed decorative installations, entrance gates, lanterns, Thanh Tien paper flowers, and the display of images and archival materials showcasing Hoa Chau in the past and present.

In the framework of the festival, traditional craft demonstrations will be given special emphasis to create engaging experiential highlights for residents and visitors. Notably, households practicing the traditional Bao Vinh blacksmithing craft will keep their forges alight throughout the festival, alongside live demonstrations of Ong Tao (Kitchen Gods) figurine making and several other Tet-related handicrafts. These activities aim to revive the urban memories of Bao Vinh-Hoa Chau associated with local heritage.

Furthermore, the contest “Bringing Tet Home” will be held with the participation of teams from local residential groups, who will prepare wrapping chung cakes, make candied fruits and traditional Hue cakes in accordance with traditional methods. A portion of the products from the contest will be presented to poor and near-poor households in the area.

Beyond these highlights, the festival will feature exhibitions and trading spaces for traditional Tet products, a dedicated area showcasing authentic Hue cuisine, folk games, community-centered activities, and the music night titled “Spring Comes to Hoa Chau”. Together, these vibrant activities will enliven the cultural and spiritual life of local residents while attracting visitors to participate and enjoy hands-on experiences.

According to Mr. Phan Trong Nghia, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Hoa Chau Ward, the “Hoa Chau Tet Festival” not only meets the cultural enjoyment needs of local residents but also promotes the community’s role as the center. The festival is expected to gradually shape a distinctive cultural-tourism product bearing the unique identity of the locality, in line with the future development orientation of Bao Vinh Pedestrian Street.
