| Pressing the button to launch the Project to Expand the Eastern North-South Expressway, Cam Lo – La Son Section |
The project is one of 234 important and key projects nationwide that were simultaneously commenced, inaugurated, or opened to technical traffic through on the same morning, in celebration of major national holidays and in preparation for the Party’s 14th National Congress.
Attending the groundbreaking ceremony were Standing Member of the City Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Hue City People’s Committee Hoang Hai Minh; Deputy Head of the Full-time Delegation of the National Assembly of Hue City Nguyen Thi Suu; representatives of departments and agencies of Quang Tri Province and Hue City, along with the project investor and construction contractors.
The investment project to expand the Eastern North-South expressway, Cam Lo – La Son section, was approved by the Prime Minister under Decision No. 1244/QD-TTg dated October 23, 2024, in order to implement Resolution No. 66/2013/QH13 dated November 29, 2013, and Resolution No. 63/2022/QH15 dated June 16, 2022, of the National Assembly.
According to the design, the project has a total length of approximately 98.73 km. The starting point is at Km 0+00 (connecting to the end of the Van Ninh – Cam Lo subproject) in Cam Hieu Commune, Quang Tri Province; the endpoint is at approximately Km102+200 (connecting to the beginning of the La Son – Hoa Lien expressway project) in Hung Loc Commune, Hue City.
The project is invested in phased stages, expanding the roadbed, pavement, and structures along the route from a two-lane configuration to a fully completed four-lane expressway, meeting technical standards for a Class 80 expressway in accordance with TCVN 5729:2012 and QCVN 117:2024/BGTVT. The total investment is approximately VND 6,463.182 billion, with completion and operation expected in 2026.
The expansion of the Cam Lo – La Son expressway to four lanes aims to gradually complete the transportation network according to planning; promote the role of the North-South economic corridor; strengthen regional connectivity; enhance operational capacity and traffic safety; create momentum for socio-economic development; contribute to national defense and security; and unlock the potential and strengths of Quang Tri Province, Hue City, and other localities in the North Central and Central central regions.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Hue City People’s Committee Hoang Hai Minh emphasized that the project passes through areas with numerous heritage sites, rich ecological forests, and historical relics. Therefore, he requested that agencies, contractors, and related units implement strict management and supervision measures, minimize environmental impacts, and strictly comply with regulations on nature and ecosystem protection.
On behalf of the locality, Hue City leaders committed to accompanying the Ministry of Construction, the Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board, and relevant units throughout the implementation process; promptly addressing difficulties related to compensation, site clearance, conversion of land and forest use purposes, construction materials, and ensuring security and public order in the area.
With the determination of contractors and the close coordination of all levels and sectors, Hue City leaders expressed confidence that the project will be completed on schedule, ensuring quality and safety, and meeting the requirements set by the Government and the Ministry of Construction.
