Delegates perform the inauguration ritual for the YUCHAI Engine Manufacturing and Assembly Plant

Attending the ceremony were Mr. Nguyen Dinh Trung, Member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the City Party Committee; Mr. Le Truong Luu, Member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the City People’s Council, and Head of the National Assembly Delegation; Mr. Nguyen Khac Toan, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the City People’s Committee; and Mr. Phan Quy Phuong, Standing Member of the City Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the City People’s Committee.

The plant covers an area of 6,5 hectares, with an initial investment of 260 million USD. Its modern, synchronized production line, featuring 90% automation, allows it to manufacture a wide range of engines for automobiles, ships, agricultural machinery, and generators.

In the first phase, 2,5 hectares of the plant focus on assembling diesel internal combustion engines with an annual capacity of more than 40,000 units, equivalent to one engine every three minutes. Moving into phase two, Kim Long Motor and YUCHAI Group will expand machining lines for core components, domesticating auxiliary parts while operating a modern casting facility to increase the localization rate to 80%.

At the ceremony, the first two products: YUCHAI K11 and YUCHAI Y24, were rolled out, marking an important step in the strategy to master core engine manufacturing technology in Vietnam.

As part of the event, Kim Long Motor and YUCHAI Group signed the Strategic Cooperation Program Agreement and the handover for plant operations in Vietnam. They also signed an agreement to supply KIM LONG  99 buses to transport companies, expanding modern transport solutions and the domestic market.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of Hue City People’s Committee Phan Quy Phuong congratulated Kim Long Motor Hue on completing and putting into operation the YUCHAI Engine Manufacturing and Assembly Plant - an important component of Kim Long Motor Hue Production and Assembly Complex.

Mr. Phan Quy Phuong acknowledged the investor’s efforts in expediting site clearance and completing planning, construction, and environmental procedures to build the project in a short period. He also praised the coordination of departments, agencies, and local authorities. To date, the project has disbursed over 12.000 billion VND, completed phase one, and is now implementing phases two and three.

According to Vice Chairman Phan Quy Phuong, since commencing operations (February 2024), Kim Long Motor’s bus assembly plant has rolled out 5.500 vehicles, contributing approximately 1.850 billion VND to the state budget and creating jobs for nearly 3.200 workers.

The operation of the YUCHAI Engine Manufacturing and Assembly Plant with an investment of 260 million USD, a total area of 20 hectares, and 90% automation was assessed by Mr. Phan Quy Phuong as a significant milestone for Vietnam’s automobile industry. It opens up opportunities to increase localization rates, expand markets to ASEAN and South Korea, and progressively integrate more deeply into global supply chains.

Mr. Phan Quy Phuong requested that the investor continue focusing resources to complete the entire project according to the approved timeline. He also instructed departments, agencies, and the People’s Committee of Chan May - Lang Co Commune to continue supporting and resolving difficulties to ensure that the project proceeds as planned.
