Thuan An Seaport Overpass nearing completion

Strategic highlights

At Thuan An seaport overpass, the longest estuary bridge in Central Vietnam, construction is reaching its peak these days. Overcoming harsh weather and tight schedules, everyone shares the same spirit: turning the project into a symbol of determination and aspiration. Once completed, the bridge will not only stand out as an architectural landmark but also open a vital traffic artery connecting Hue center with coastal areas, giving a strong boost to tourism, trade, and the regional economy. It is also a vivid example of breakthrough development thinking - using infrastructure as a strategic lever.

Emphasized by Member of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Party Committee and Standing Vice Chairman of Hue City People’s Committee, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, the perspective that “Hue cannot develop solely by relying on heritage and tourism” is gradually becoming reality. The city is proactively transitioning toward a multi-pillar economic model, with focus on high-tech industry, smart urban development, and modern transportation.

In industrial and economic zones such as Chan May - Lang Co and Phong Dien, … many strategic projects are converging and expanding, including Kim Long Motor Hue complex; Chan May Port Logistics Center; Kanglongda Hue Plant; Creanza High-Tech Quartz Sand Processing Plant; and Dat Phuong Ultra-Clear Glass Plant… These projects not only attract large capital and modern technology but also create value-added production chains, laying the foundation for Hue’s priority sectors in its industrialization and modernization strategy - particularly processing and manufacturing industries and automobile production and assembly.

Transportation - the lever to expand development space

Transport infrastructure is undergoing a remarkable transformation. From inter-regional routes such as National Highway 49 and the eastern North - South Expressway to intra-city roads such as the extended To Huu street leading to Phu Bai Airport, all are being synchronously invested in and upgraded, forming a solid network linking the city center with surrounding areas.

Strategic routes such as the Phase 2 Chan May Port breakwater and the western Tam Giang - Cau Hai lagoon road,… not only enhance domestic connectivity but also broaden regional and international linkages - creating new momentum and strength for comprehensive development. Seamless transportation shortens distances between areas, forms dynamic urban clusters, and expands development space in a more integrated and far-reaching way.

A notable highlight of the current development strategy is the alignment of infrastructure investment with social welfare, particularly job creation and income improvement. Projects in the Chan May - Lang Co Economic Zone, the An Van Duong New Urban Area, the Gilimex Industrial Park, and the Saigon - Chan May Free Trade Zone are generating tens of thousands of direct jobs, along with many indirect jobs in services, transport, and supply chains,… contributing to income growth and social security.

Stable employment and income for the people form the foundation for sustainable socio-cultural development. Newly opened roads, modern factories, and well-planned urban areas rising amid green landscapes… are together shaping a Hue full of aspiration, energy, and renewal.

It is clear that the simultaneous emergence of these strategic projects is the result of long-term vision, strong political will, and an open, transparent, and efficient investment environment. This is the clearest manifestation of unity between government and people in shaping the city’s future.

With these foundations being established, it is all but certain that Hue is no longer a “lowland” of industrial and services. The city is steadily becoming a hub of high-tech industry, a smart city, a center for high-quality tourism, and an attractive destination for domestic and foreign investors.

In the near future, a modern, civilized Hue - where preservation and development, heritage and innovation converge, will be clearly visible. A Hue where people not only live but live well, live happily, and be proud of their homeland.

“Upgrading and repairing the Thao Long saltwater prevention and freshwater retention dam; the North–South high-speed railway; expansion of Nguyen Hoang Street; construction of the Binh Thanh Bridge; an overpass across the Tam Giang Lagoon; development of seaport systems; and the Ring Road 3 are strategic projects already approved for investment. These will create major impact on Hue’s urban and transport development in the near future”, said Mr. Le Anh Tuan, Director of the Department of Construction.
