| Artisans from Thanh Lieu woodblock printing village demonstrate woodblock carving |
The program took place on August 23rd, marking the opening of the Ngu Ha Vien cultural space (181 Xuan 68 Street, Phu Xuan Ward, Hue City).
Here, visitors can listen to artisans share about the history of this unique craft village and directly view ancient woodblocks, carved paintings, carving tools, and woodblock-printed publications from Thanh Lieu Village. In addition, artisans also guide visitors in experiencing and practicing woodblock carving and printing.
The Thanh Lieu woodblock printing craft has a history of nearly 600 years, renowned for its intricate and valuable carving techniques. In the past, artisans of the village were celebrated for producing major collections of woodblocks such as the woodblocks of the Nguyen Dynasty, of Vinh Nghiem Pagoda, and of Phuc Giang School, which have been recognized by UNESCO.
After this event, Ngu Ha Vien is expected to organize more cultural and artistic programs with the vision of becoming a gathering place for heritage and culture enthusiasts, where artisans and designers can meet, exchange, and create together.
