| Teachers attending the Hue Singing training course at Hue Intermediate School of Culture and Arts |
The program is part of the project “Preserving and promoting the value of Hue Singing heritage to 2030”.
During the 16-session training course, teachers will be taught both the theory and practice of Hue Singing by experts and artisans. The focus will be on Hue folk melodies such as “ly tinh tang”, “hoai nam”, “ngua o”, “doan xuan”, and “tieu khuc”, along with the chanting of “ho mai xap”, “gia gao”, and “ho khoan”. The course also includes Hue Singing compositions such as “luu thuy”, “long diep”, “lien hoan”, “ho quang”, “xuan phong”, “hanh van”, and “tuong tu khuc”, etc. Additionally, the participating teachers will interact with artisans and Hue Singing clubs.
According to Mr. Phan Thanh Hai, Director of Hue City Department of Culture and Sports, in 2015, Hue Singing was added to the National Intangible Cultural Heritage list by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. This is the proof of the unique value and enduring vitality of this art form.
To continue the effort of protecting and developing the heritage, the department has created a program to bring Hue Singing into schools with two main parts, including: training secondary school music teachers in Hue Singing, and teaching Hue Singing to students through Hue Singing clubs in some secondary schools in Hue City. This initiative aims to foster awareness and a sense of responsibility for preserving and promoting the value of Hue Singing.
