| Guiding mothers on preparing meals for children |
At these training sessions, participants gained practical knowledge on child care and improving nutritional status. Specialists from the Department of Non-Communicable Disease Prevention and Nutrition directly guided key topics such as caring for sick children, age-appropriate complementary feeding, and techniques for preparing supplementary foods at home.
Notably, instructors also taught mothers how to handle initial care when a child has a fever or diarrhea, how to take body temperature, and how to prepare oral rehydration solutions (ORESOL) and sugar-salt solutions at home. In addition, the training on food preparation techniques highlighted common mistakes in cooking for children and encouraged the use of locally available ingredients.
Participants not only observed direct demonstrations but also directly practiced preparing age-appropriate meals for children. The cooked meals were then served to the children to evaluate their effectiveness in real-life use.
