Previously, a working delegation from Military Region 4, led by Colonel Pham Van Dung, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Military Region, held a meeting with the city regarding the dismantling and repurposing of national defense structures in Thuong Thanh area of Hue City.
A field survey of several structures revealed that there are currently 31 national defense works in the Thuong Thanh area of Hue City, including 26 blockhouses, 2 guard posts, 2 hiding shelters, and 1 anti-aircraft position. Additionally, there are 9 combat structures located at Hai Thanh Garrison and the Literature Temple - Martial Arts Temple.
These works were constructed by the US military from 1957 to 1975. Currently, they are located within the heritage complex and have been severely damaged, significantly affecting the visual appeal of the relic site.
