The 36th International Biology Olympiad was held in the Republic of the Philippines from July 19 to 27, with the participation of 81 teams from 81 countries and territories (including 3 observer teams) and a total of 298 contestants.
It’s known that IBO 2025 consisted of 2 official competition days: one theory day with 2 exams, each lasting 180 minutes, and 1 practical day with 4 laboratory tests, each lasting 90 minutes.
The International Biology Olympiad is regarded as the most comprehensive international competition in natural sciences at the high school level worldwide. Overcoming numerous challenges in preparation during the 8-day competition at Ateneo de Manila University in the Philippines, the Vietnamese team achieved an outstanding result, ranking among the top 10 countries with the highest overall team scores. Notably, Nguyen Luong Thai Duy ranked 7th out of a total of 298 contestants.
This achievement continues the impressive streak of results by Vietnamese student teams at recent international Olympiads. The results at this year’s International Biology Olympiad further affirm the quality of Vietnam’s general education system as well as the sound direction in identifying and nurturing gifted students, and integrating training and assessment programs aligned with international standards.
