The training content provided basic knowledge about the causes, risk factors, and serious complications of hypertension, a disease that is increasingly common and one of the leading causes of death in Vietnam.
Additionally, the trainees were also guided on skills for early detection of hypertension in the community, as well as effective communication methods to raise awareness and encourage locals to participate in timely screening and treatment.
According to statistics, hypertension currently affects about 13% of the local population, with the highest prevalence found in individuals over 60 years old. However, many people with the condition remain undiagnosed or inadequately treated. It leads to a high risk of stroke, heart failure, myocardial infarction, and severe neurological complications.
Through the training course, Hue CDC not only enhanced the capacity of grassroots healthcare workers and medical collaborators but also assigned specific tasks for implementing screening in residential areas. This is a practical step toward proactively detecting cases early and managing treatment effectively, thereby contributing to protecting community health, reducing the burden of disease, and lowering healthcare costs for the people.
The program is one of the key activities in the plan of the city’s health sector for 2025, reflecting a strong commitment to the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases, aiming to improve quality of life and promote sustainable development.
