Historical records state that in 1471, Phan Niem and his sons, Phan Duong and Phan Lang, followed King Le Thanh Tong in the campaign against Champa. After their victory, Phan Niem was granted the title “Specially Promoted Guardian Upper General, Commander of the Embroidered Uniform Guards” and was bestowed the noble rank of “Niem Long Marquis.” He was entrusted with governing several regions under the Le Dynasty, including Kim Hoa (later Kim Tra, Huong Tra), Hai Lang, and Vo Xuong (Hai Lang and Trieu Phong nowadays).

For this edition of Hue Today Weekly, we are pleased to introduce readers to the daily life of Thanh Phuoc Village through the lens of Bao Chau, who shares:

“I approached the village as a Hue native exploring my own homeland and was amazed by its deep cultural heritage, the daily life of its people, the century-old riverside market, the fresh shrimp and fish, as well as the simple yet delicious local dishes. Hopefully, in the near future, we can establish tours and routes connecting these ancient villages to promote tourism in our heritage city.”
