As a playground for promising young talents to reach the international stage, the Global Child Supermodel competition went through a six-month journey to find the most outstanding contestants. Organized and chaired by the Consulate General of Vietnam in Fukuoka, the competition attracted over 200 applications from both domestic and international participants. After multiple selection rounds in Vietnam, the grand final took place on January 12, 2025 in the port city of Fukuoka. The final round has the participation of beauty queens from Vietnam and Japan, as well as designers, journalists, artists, and members of the organizing committee, who served as judges.
At the casting section which took place in Ho Chi Minh City, according to Khanh Ly, she wanted to challenge herself in the competition and promote the beauty of Hue’s ao dai. She showcased her strength in catwalk performance and received praise from the judge Mai Ngo, who remarked: “I really like your style and preparation. It fits the theme and it is well-invested. Your catwalk also demonstrates a higher level of skill compared to other contestants, especially in the way you handle the dress flaps and arm movements”.
After passing the casting section, the contestant from Hue had the opportunity to join other young supermodels in skill development classes and receive professional training from the judges. At the “Ao Dai Culture Fashion Show”, she had the chance to walk alongside the models who were contestants of the “Miss Culture International Friendship”. They showcased elegant and graceful Ao dai that brought the beauty of Vietnam’s traditional dress to life. This experience allowed her to explore new opportunities and further refine her skills.
The final round of the competition was a dazzling stage where Khanh Ly captivated the judges and audience with her outstanding performance. Contestants went through various rounds, including a group performance and name announcement. The top 24 finalists showcased national cultural costumes designed by Bigally, while the top 18 presented their own selected fashion outfits. In the interview and message-sharing section for the top 10, Khanh Ly could not hide her emotions and gratitude for her parent’s support throughout her journey. She expressed: “If I win the championship, I will focus on my studies and work on improving myself in many aspects. I will also participate in charity activities and help promote the program”.
A 11-year-old girl, with the typical elegant characteristic of Hue people had showcased her confidence and determination on a huge stage. Her story will serve as an inspiration for young people in Hue, further enriching the image of the city’s children, who are adorable and innocent, yet full of courage and resilience.
