Hue Central Hospital is among the very few facilities nationwide capable of conducting radiation therapy for children.

Among the four hospitals classified as high-tech specialized facilities (scoring 90–94 points) are Hue Central Hospital, Cho Ray Hospital, Bach Mai Hospital, and the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City.

As per current regulations, the healthcare system is divided into three levels: initial, basic, and advanced specialty. The ranking and scoring of medical facilities aim to help the public access medical services and streamline referral processes.

Hue Central Hospital currently operates over 5,000 beds, with nearly 4,000 staff, and performs more than 51,000 surgeries annually, ranking among the top three hospitals nationwide. In 2024, Hue Central Hospital was recognized as an exemplary unit of the Ministry of Health for its outstanding development in advanced and specialized techniques such as organ transplantation, stem cell transplantation, stroke treatment, oncology, and cardiology. According to a recently approved government plan, Hue Central Hospital is one of six public hospitals in Vietnam slated for international-standard investment from 2021 to 2030, with a vision to 2050.
